My Connections to Play

“A child who does not play is not a child, but the man who does not play has lost forever the child who lived in him”.
~Pablo Neruda
“It is a happy talent to know how to play”.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood, for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child's soul.”
~Friedrich Froebel (Father of modern kindergarten)

I remember growing up and my sisters and I were all into bears, cabbage patch dolls, Strawberry Shortcake and of course Hello Kitty! I loved playing with make up and pretending that I was a lady with lipstick and make up our grown up name were Jean and Barbra. now those were the good ole days! We did not play outside much because my dad did not want his daughters to get marks on their legs neither did he want us to get hurt therefore all of our playing was in the house. We managed to have tons of fun! As an adult I am a big kid and I am  still crazy about Hello Kitty!
I am a Princess and every Princess needs her toys!

  1. I like your first quote by Pablo. It’s exactly what play is to children. It is normal for a child to play and they feel a kind of suffocating when you don’t let them play. I had a lot of active play outside the house and it was so much fun. I hope you are still looking good for Daddy with your make up

  2. I love your passion for Hello Kitty. I also admire your father for wanting to keep hid daughters out of harms way. But playing in the house could lead to broken furniture and lamps, right? For someone that did not have a father in the household growing up, I had to follow mamas rules and she wanted our butts outside. Many days there was nothing to do and with boredome comes trouble for some children, but I am thankful I had a creative mind. I would always find something to do even if it mean walking around the neighborhood collecting bugs....I know..GROSS! (smile)
